About Me

Hi all! My name is Heather Carawan and I am an intern at Pamlico County Primary School with East Carolina University (arrrrghhh!). I am from Chocowinity, NC and I live there now with my son Oliver (8), my husband Christopher, and my sweet chocolate lab puppy Mabel. I am so excited to be learning from the amazing staff and faculty at PCPS and be in an amazing second grade classroom.

My family loves to camp, cook and share with our friend sand family!

I did not always know I wanted to be a teacher. I spent years exploring other career opportunities and soul searching for what I was "meant" to do until I had my son, Oliver. It was amazing watching him grow and learn, and I knew then that I wanted to help others make connections and learn and grow too. I took an elementary education class on a whim and haven't stopped since. I absolutely love watching students make connections and helping them learn new concepts and grow as readers and learners. I want my students to see learning as an adventure, and I can't wait to lead them!

My Teaching Philosophy
My beliefs on teaching are short and simple- Everyone Can. I believe that if someone is willing to do something or learn or grow then everyone can accomplish, everyone can succeed, everyone can grow. It is my philosophy that what students are exposed to and develop when they're younger can have an enormous impact on the rest of their lives and it is my mission to instill in my students the belief that they too can do anything they set their mind to, and with my help I hope to guide them along that path.
